My adventure has started in Porto, Portugal! From the one-of-a-kind buildings to the rich history to the most amazing sunset I have ever seen, I just adored this city.
I became well acquainted with the city center by spending my entire first day just wandering the streets… 24,000 steps, to be exact! The painted tile buildings in this city were beautiful, and each one tells a different story, especially the Chapel of Santa Catarina and São Bento Station. Later, I explored the Mercado do Bolhão, where I tried all sorts of food from local vendors.
The next must-do is visit the beaches along the coast, but don’t make the same mistake as me and try to walk there from the city center. It did, in fact, take me 2.5 hours to walk to the beach but once I made it to Praia da Luz, it sure was worth it to be able to lay out on the Atlantic Coast.
I saved the best for last because my very favorite part of Porto was watching the sunset from Jardim do Morro. I have always been a sucker for a good sunset, and this may have been one of the best. The sun going down over the river and the skyline of the old city alone could have been enough, but this garden was filled with live music and people from all around the world. This sunset was so beautiful that I went back on my second night and would do it every night if I had the chance!
