Study Abroad 101

Thinking about studying abroad? I am here to give you the rundown on how to have the best study abroad experience.

Say "YES" to everything!

This was the motto I lived by while abroad and have now adopted this mindset into my everyday life since returning home. It reminded me of the old saying, "you only live once" and this was a game changer. I realized life is too short not to try everything and have fun while doing so.

Additionally, here are some pieces of advice I would give myself to make the most of your time abroad:

• Immerse yourself in the culture

• Try new ethnic foods

• Take a new class... any class!

• Make an effort to meet locals

• Learn the native language

• Go on free walking tours

• Keep a travel diary

As cliche as it may sound, do not forget to live in the moment! It is very easy to become caught up in the thrill of the moment, but I promise you that your time abroad will fly by. It is important to embrace the chance and you will grow to become adaptable.
